Drain cleaning and plumbing in Bellevue, NE

Bellevue is Nebraska’s oldest town, and a lot of its homes went up in the Offutt boom after the war. That means orangeburg, clay and cast iron under the yard. When your line backs up, we clear it from $93 and the camera tells you which of those you’re dealing with.

The Pipe Under Bellevue

Bellevue was incorporated in 1855, twelve years before Nebraska became a state. Some of the pipe under it acts its age. This is what our cameras keep finding.

Orangeburg pipe, soft and flattening

Orangeburg is a fiber pipe used in homes built around the middle of the last century. Over the decades it softens, sags and lets roots in. On one Bellevue job this year the main was orangeburg for 50 to 60 feet, then clay at the sidewalk, and the owner had backups every spring.

Three kinds of pipe in one line

A Bellevue homeowner this spring had metal, clay and orangeburg all in the same sewer, with roots coming through the clay and the orangeburg. Each change of material is a joint, and joints are where roots get in.

Roots that finally collapse the pipe

Roots don’t just clog a line, they crack it open over time. In July, jetting from an exterior cleanout in Bellevue showed a section of pipe that had collapsed from root intrusion.

Old do-it-yourself repairs coming apart

New owners sometimes inherit someone else’s weekend plumbing. In one Bellevue house, water came up through cracks in the basement floor every time the washer ran. The previous owner had repaired those drains himself in the 1990s, and the joints were coming apart under the slab.

A repair 8 to 10 feet down, without tearing up the whole line

July. The damaged section of sewer sat 8 to 10 feet deep. We dug up only that section, took out the failed pipe, put in new pipe, and waited for the inspector before closing it up. No full replacement needed.

Cast iron saved with descaling and an epoxy lining

May. Instead of replacing a 3-inch cast iron main, we descaled it and lined it with epoxy for 30 feet, up to where it changes to transite pipe.

A tornado, a fallen tree and a broken vent stack

May. After the tornado, a tree came down on a Bellevue house and the homeowner asked us to camera the main line. The tree had also snapped the plumbing vent stack in the middle of the house, which leaks every time it rains. The fix was a new vent stack from the basement through the roof.

Five bids on a sewer replacement

April. A homeowner with roots in clay and orangeburg pipe, and a possible collapse, was collecting five bids. We ran the camera so they had real video to compare quotes against.

Bellevue Sewer & Drain Questions

What is orangeburg pipe, and do I have it?

Orangeburg is a fiber sewer pipe common in mid-century homes. It softens and flattens with age and lets roots in. We have found it in more than one Bellevue home this year. The camera, free with any drain cleaning, tells you for sure.

Do you have to dig up my whole yard to fix the sewer?

Not always. If the camera shows one bad section, we can dig up and replace just that piece. This summer we did exactly that on a Bellevue line 8 to 10 feet deep.

Can old cast iron be saved instead of replaced?

Often, yes. Descaling grinds out the buildup, and an epoxy lining can seal the inside. On a Bellevue job in May we descaled and lined 30 feet of 3-inch cast iron.

What warranty comes with sewer and drain work in Bellevue?

The same as in Omaha. Drain cleaning and hydro jetting carry a 90-day warranty. A sewer spot repair carries a lifetime warranty on the repaired section, and a full sewer line replacement comes with a lifetime installation warranty.

Do you offer a military discount?

Yes. Active-duty military and veterans get 10% off qualifying services. Mention it when you book. It can’t be combined with other percentage discounts.

How fast can you get to Bellevue?

Bellevue is on our regular routes, so same-day service is usual during the day. Our phones are answered 24 hours a day, and a sewer backup coming into the house gets a plumber that night. Calls after 5pm have a $198 dispatch fee, which members don’t pay. Call (402) 200-5059.
