Waterloo grew up on the Elkhorn River after the Union Pacific arrived around 1870, and it’s still a small village: 935 people at the 2020 census. Here’s what the calls looked like this year.
Downspouts and outside drain lines move a lot of water at once. Once sludge builds up in the pipe, water backs up and can wash out the ground around the drain. A camera shows what’s in the line, and hydro jetting flushes out the buildup.
A water softener empties into a drain when it regenerates, and a slow floor drain can’t always take it. One Waterloo homeowner had standing water in the basement after the softener discharged overnight.
Kitchen lines were our most common call here this year. One homeowner’s sink had been clogging on and off for months. Cabling the line gets it open, and if sludge keeps bringing it back, hydro jetting cleans the pipe walls.
When a cable stops 3 to 5 feet in and won’t budge, something may be stuck in the P-trap. The fix is taking the trap off to get the object out, and replacing the trap if it needs it.

September. An outside drain had started backing up after rain. The homeowner asked for a camera inspection, which showed heavy sludge in the line. We came back the next morning and hydro jetted for about an hour and a half, which cleared the line and flushed the debris out.
June. The cable caught 3 to 5 feet in and wouldn’t go further, even in reverse. We found an object stuck in the P-trap of the downstairs shower. A second technician came out and replaced the trap.
February. An urgent call for a clogged kitchen sink. We cabled the line about 20 feet, hit a soft clog and cleared it, then tested with water. Everything drained well.
October. At least two outside drain tiles were backing up, one of them tied to a roof downspout, and the basement floor drain was slow. We quoted a camera inspection and hydro jetting for the gutter line. The homeowner chose to try flushing it first and call us if that doesn’t work.
From a rain drain to a kitchen sink, these are the services that fit what Waterloo homeowners call us about.

Newer homes clog too. This February we cleared a kitchen line about 20 feet in at a Waterloo house that was only four years old. It was a soft clog, and the line drained well once it was open.
